The current review focused on solid lipid nanoparticle formation, assessment, and applications. Solid lipid nanoparticles, a unique possible substitute for polymers, are used in one of the creative prospective colloidal carrier systems for parenteral nutrition that is equivalent to an oil-in-water emulsion. Lipid components known as SLNs are solid at normal temperature and physiologically tolerated. The benefits of fat emulsions, liposomes, and polymeric nanoparticles are all combined in SLNs. The solid lipid nanoparticles are developed using various methods i.e., High pressure homogenization, Hot homogenization, Cold Homogenization, Solvent evaporation, Solvent emulsification-diffusion method, Microemulsion, Supercritical fluid, Spray-drying, Filmultrasound dispersion and Precipitation method. The formulated SLNs are characterized using following parameters including SEM Analysis, pH, swelling index, DSC, In vitro drug release and stability. In conclusion, solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) are more effective and targeted drug delivery system which is utilized in the management of different medical conditions.
